Mimaki launches new roll-to-roll UV printers

Mimaki lança novas impressoras UV rolo a rolo, soluções sustentáveis que garantem produtividade, rentabilidade e versatilidade

Mimaki Europe today announced the launch of two new UV technology solutions that enhance the company's outstanding 100 and 330 series product lines: the UJV100-160Plus and the UCJV330-160.

The new UV printers offer a range of production benefits, providing customers with additional opportunities to expand their range of applications while bringing Mimaki's most recognized UV technology to market to support a more sustainable future for the industry.

A pioneer in UV inkjet printing, Mimaki launched the world's first UV printer with white ink in 2004 and has continued to expand and develop UV technologies that ensure versatile, high-quality printing for sign graphics. The introduction of the entry-level 100 series and the more advanced 330 series printers was based on Mimaki's renowned technology platforms and adapted these robust technologies to the needs of different market segments and customers at different stages of their digital printing journey.

Today, with a solid commitment to sustainable printing and a UV printing process perfectly aligned with this goal, Mimaki has added a UV technology solution to its 330 series and developed an advanced UV model in its 100 series.

Arjen Evertse, General Sales Manager at Mimaki Europe, explains: "The pressing need to be more sustainable, coupled with recent pressures related to rising energy prices, has accelerated the need for the entire industry to adopt UV technology. UV printing consumes considerably less energy than other technologies throughout the printing process, mainly due to the instant drying of UV-LED inks. This both improves the environmental impact of the printer and reduces production costs and delivery times."

"At Mimaki, we are committed to supporting the shift to UV in order to ensure more sustainable and efficient print production, prepare our valued customers' businesses for the future, and, of course, ensure that we are working to improve sustainability for the benefit of all. The UJV100-160Plus and UCJV330-160 are the latest results of our efforts to increase the UV printing options available to print service providers, while offering the unmatched benefits that are synonymous with Mimaki technologies."

UCJV330

The new UCJV330-160 printer and cutting plotter offers extremely versatile roll-to-roll UV-LED inkjet printing, with significantly optimized productivity and image quality for Sign Graphics applications.

With a practical speed of 28 m²/h for a four-color configuration or 18 m²/h with white and/or transparent inks, the UCJV330-160 enables users to guarantee impressive response times to their customers and produce more jobs with greater efficiency. Furthermore, the high speeds that can be achieved with this technology do not compromise image quality thanks to Mimaki's newly developed ink ejection technology(1), which reduces color irregularities in high-density areas, even in high-speed output mode.

The UCJV330-160 was also developed with application and material flexibility in mind, in order to support Mimaki customers in their transition to PVC-free and more environmentally friendly materials. The printer is equipped with white ink and clear ink as standard, in addition to basic color inks. This allows users to print high-quality images on materials traditionally used in outdoor signage applications, but also on milky white (translucent), transparent, and colored base sheets. Among the many materials customers can choose to print on are PET, PU (polyurethane), and other resin films, fabrics, and paper (including uncoated paper).

This material flexibility, combined with the option to offer 2.5D printing, watermarks, or five-layer printing, allows print service providers to offer a wider and more valuable range of products to customers, increasing their competitive advantage. 2.5D printing can be used to create more textured surfaces to replicate the actual appearance of the product in the image, such as the leather surface of a shoe or bag. The transparent inks used to create watermarks can reveal a silhouette or additional image when illuminated from behind the print. Using the UCJV330-160 to produce layered prints can highlight the image on a transparent or colored film, enhance the image depending on the lighting, or allow brands to have different images or colors with different lights or if the graphic is viewed from inside or outside a storefront, for example.

The entry-level UJV100-160Plus model features new capabilities and is designed to consume exceptionally low amounts of energy. At just 0.5 kW, the UJV100-160Plus consumes less than half the energy of eco-solvent and latex/resin printers on the market, helping print businesses reduce operating costs and CO2 emissions.

The new features incorporated into the UJV100-160Plus expand the range of applications that users can include in their product portfolio and increase operational and cost efficiency.

The new ink saving function added to the UJV100-160Plus reduces ink consumption by up to 50%, while maintaining the color balance of the printed design. The operator can easily adjust and configure ink reduction levels using RasterLink7 software, eliminating the need for specialized knowledge or equipment for color adjustment.

The layered printing function included in the new printer removes the printed material to allow printing up to 3 layers, expanding the application possibilities when using the machine. This printing function allows the user to print in white or transparent white, increasing customer flexibility in offering a wide range of applications. The use of up to 3-layer printing to further enhance the appearance of graphics in different lights or environments creates another opportunity for Mimaki customers to differentiate their products and services. Alternatively, Mimaki customers can use 3-layer printing with transparent ink to create exquisite finishes, adding value to their printing applications, such as window graphics.

The UJV100-160Plus also integrates seamlessly with Mimaki's CG-AR series of cutting plotters. This new and convenient function allows users to send cutting data directly from RasterLink7 to the plotter, improving workflow efficiency and linking printing and cutting, even with an output computer without design software. When combined with a CG-AR cutting plotter, the UJV100-160Plus also benefits from Mimaki's ID Cut function, which enables automatic printing and cutting operations with minimal operator intervention, reducing the risk of human error.
