MIMAKI simplifies digital printing of small batches of packaging

Produce professional packaging in five minutes with ArtiosCAD Designer Solution, the UJF-6042 UV LED inkjet printer, and the CFL-605RT cutting machine.

Mimaki, a leading manufacturer of large-format inkjet printers, announces that it has joined forces with ESKO to simplify digital packaging production for companies that manufacture packaging samples and models, short runs, and customized packaging items. The result of this alliance is Mimaki's Original Goods Package System (OGPS), which consists of three components:

ArtiosCAD Designer Solution (ArtiosCAD DS), one of the components of ArtiosCAD, Esko's industry-leading solution and the world's most widely used packaging design program, which includes four hundred easy-to-use templates and tools for creating original packaging.

Our goal was to simplify the design process and produce packaging to bring professional packaging design within reach of manufacturers of all sizes. By combining an ArtiosCAD software component from Esko with affordable printing and cutting technology from Mimaki, the Original Goods Package System is perfect for changing the way small batches of packaging are designed and produced.

Mike Horsten, Marketing Director for the EMEA region at Mimaki.>

How does it work?

To design packaging, simply choose one of the 400 professional templates included in ArtiosCAD DS, enter the interior dimensions of the packaging and the thickness of the material you want to use. You can specify more detailed parameters, such as the shape and size of the flaps. The system then generates a design that can be imported into Adobe® Illustrator® to add images[2]. Users can also use specialized tools to create custom designs and include them in the final file. The system offers a comprehensive solution that can be used not only to design packaging and protective material for a product, but also to print directly onto the item. On the other hand, users who do not need the ArtiosCAD DS templates can create custom designs with the guide function.

Once the design is complete," concludes Horsten, "it can be printed in exceptional quality on the UJF-6042, in full color and with varnish effects if required. The printed design can be cut and creased with the CFL-605RT cutting machine, which is suitable for the printer's dimensions. This means you can have a finished design in a matter of minutes, whether it's a sample or model using the actual material, a small batch of packaging, or even a customized or mass-produced product. This comprehensive solution will revolutionize the way packaging companies, commercial printers, and small manufacturers design and produce short-run packaging.

What about the sale?

Original Goods Packaging System (OGPS) is now available through Mimaki suppliers and distributors as an option for the CFL-605RT cutting machine.
